FLORAL AND FIGURATIVE WORKS IN OIL

ROSE TINT MY WORLD

Color - the nucleus of all my work is an exploration of color and human interaction. I am fascinated by the phenomenology of sight, and the role color plays in forming the work and how we react to it.

I was born in New York City and was inspired to paint by the visceral reactions I had to others’ work, notably the European baroque paintings I encountered at the Metropolitan Museum of my youth.

The works presented here, mostly personal stories, use color, composition and light, seeking to inspire the viewer’s instinct and intuition.

Art, of course, does not exist in a vacuum. How the work is presented, how it is positioned and lit and other factors are invaluable tools to creating interest and adding value to both the story and the artist(s) work. As a gallery owner I looked for ways to elevate the work, while staying true to intent. It was a pleasure to share with artists, the ways to give importance to the work.

Successfully mounting Thirty-Three exhibitions between 2011 and 2015 at my Portland gallery gave me an opportunity to work with both local artists as well as nationally known artists and local art institutions promoting works without regard to content or commercial value. I am available to consult and help mount your next exhibition. References upon request.
